Columbia River Gorge AVA: This region is shared by both Washington and Oregon. There are steep slopes and a dry climate. The regions is approximately 4,400 acres of which only about 300 are planted, and has a unique geography. Due to the location of the nearby mountains the rainfall here is much less that other regions in Oregon. The varieties produced include: Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris.

Willamette Valley AVA: This is the largest wine region in Oregon State and is located in Northwest Oregon near the Willamette River. The majority of Oregon’s wineries are located here in Willamette Valley (mostly in Yamhill District), which was established in 1984 and its six sub-regions include: Dundee Hills, McMinnville, Ribbon Ridge, Chehalem Mountains, Eola-Amity Hills and Yamhill-Carlton District. This entire region is approximately 5,200 square miles and primarily produces Pinot Noir. The temperatures are mild year round in the valley getting very little snow in the winter.

Southern Oregon AVA: This region was established in 2004 and is a combination of the Umpqua Valley AVA and the Rogue Valley AVA. It is located just south of Eugene and west of the Cascades. Its varieties include: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling, Burgundy, Merlot, Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec.
